taken one week before the graduation ceremony on March 3, 1954.
- Interesting Stories
for Koreans, and for scientists around the world.
- Music we used
to hear.
Our school had an excellent chorus.
- 38 Culture. In August of 1945, Soviet troops came to the north of the
38th parallel in August, and Americans came to the south in September.
Many well-to-do Koreans moved from the north to the south because they
did not like the communist regime being set up there.
There were many 38 refugees among the teachers and students in our middle/high school, and they practiced their northern culture in Seoul, including some of the items they picked up from the Soviet troops.

- Before September of 1948,
Where were you ?
- 6.25, covering
the core period (1950-53) of our high school years (1948-54). The story
of this war is the very story of our school life.
- Shortage of
electric power. We often used candle lights to study during the
night.
- Eton and Harrow.
Our Tallman mentioned these two words everyday. Let us look
at some photos from these two English places.
- Seoul's Old Rhythm. Electric cars. We used to
meet girls there.
- Arusas Roren! We used to hear this
word very often in our geography classes. This is the name of the region called
"Alsace-Lorraine" between France and Germany. These days, this region is under
French management.
- Garden of Eden. If you maintain
the disciplines we picked up during our high school years, the entire
world
is your Garden of Eden.

I received my PhD degree from Princeton in 1961, seven years after high school graduation in 1954. This means that I did much of the ground work for the degree during my high school years.
