Sam Treiman was Weinberg'd advisor, and he was also my advisor.
- Weinberg received his PhD degree in 1957, and I received mine in 1961.
Weinberg invented his own physics in 1969 and received his Nobel
prize in 1979.
- I became seriously interested in Wigner's paper
only after publishing paper on
the parton picture in 1977.
- I became interested
in Lorentz-boosting oscillator wave functions, in accordance with Wigner's
representation theory. Here is
my 1979 first paper
along this line.
- I became aware of Wigner's 1939 paper while I was a graduate student
(1958-61), but was not able to do anything about it. After publishing
my first paper on this subject in 1979, I became interested in the
papers Weinberg published in 1964, particularly on massless particles.
-
After publishing a number of papers on Wigner and Weinberg, and I
was able to accumulate enough
resources to tell Wigner stories he wanted to hear. I started telling
him those stories in 1985.
