- In 1937, the electron orbit is replaced by a standing wave.
- In 1964, it is replaced by a charged bound state called a hadron.
The proton is a charged hadron. It is a bound state of three
quarks.
- This charged particle can be accelerated, and the proton speed
can become very close to that of light.
- In 1969, Feynman observed the peculiarities in this fast-moving
proton. This is called Feynman's parton picture.
The issue is whether the quark model and parton model are two
different manifestation of one Lorentz-covariant entity.
