Friends from Austria

Two Austrian Ladies I met in Pecs, Hungary (2002). They were travelling around Europe to learn new things and to meet new people. They became very happy when I talked about their city as the music capital of the world. They came from Vienna.
1. Austrian Lady. It is a pleasure to be admired by a lady who understands the world. This photo was taken at a sidewalk cafe in Pecs (Hungary, 2002).
2. Austrian Student in front of the Wilson Park in Geneva (1999). The Wilson Park was the site of the League of Nations, which served as the United Nations after World War I and before World War II.

German Friends

New Opera Dress Code. During the intermission in the Frankfurt Opera House, I noticed many black-tied gentlemen, and ladies were also formally dressed. There were some informally dressed like myself, and I was looking for the ladies with appropriately dressed. I found them and we agreed that we are more in tune with the real world. There are two ladies in this photo. One of them lives in Frankfurt, and the other is from Vienna. Both of them are opera lovers (2001).
German Sisters born in Koenigsberg before 1945. Koenigsberg became a Russian city of Kaliningrad, which used to be a Soviet submarine base during the Cold War era. These days, many German tourists come to this city to find out their family roots. This photo was taken when I went to Kaliningrad in 2005 in order to do my research on Kant and Einstein.
1. Two German music lovers. I met them at the lobby of the Maritaim Proart Hotel in Berlin (2015). They were resting before going to an opera. We noted that the lobby was decorated to be a garden of Eden. I told them I am happy to be with two ladies because God pulled out two ribs for two women, and I told them I have the same number of ribs on both sides.
2. World Cup 2006. Germany hosted the World-Cup football matches in 2006, and many German ladies volunteered to help the visitors to their country. These ladies were very helpful to me at one of the Berlin subway stations
3. German mother and daughter at Berlin's Tegel Airport (2013). They were going to London for a weekend retreat. The mother is a medical doctor, and the daughter is a financial engineer. Two highly educated German ladies.
4. German mother and daughter came with bat masks to the Brandenburg Gate on the New Year's eve in December 31, 2015. I mantioned "Die Fledermaus," meaning Johann Strauss's opera about a New Year's Eve party. They understood what I was saying, and I had a photo with them. When I told them I am a professor in the United States, the daughter, still a student, wanted have a photo with me without her mother.
5. Another set of mother and daughter. I met them at the residential area of Berlin near the Victory Column (July 2016). They are very fluent in English. I had a photo with them. a photo with them.
German lady at the statue of a farmer at the Alexanderplartz in Berlin (2014). The statue was badly stained. In 1991, this statue was very clean, as can be seen from this photo. I assume Berliners did not take care of this statue because it was set up communists in East Germany. It is not right because God created farmers many many years before Marx and Engels wrote their manifesto in 1848. They are no communist farmers.
I met this student at an out-door restaurant at the Unter den Linden (Central Berlin)(July 2016). She is studying Japanese in her College, and she talked to me first in Japanese. I then told her "Nipponjin janai-desu" (I am not a Japanese). She became confused. How can a non-Japanese man speak Japanese. I then told her "America-kara kita Baka-san desu." (I am an idiot from America). I told her I went from Korea to the United States in 1954. I was very smart then, but I became as stupid as Americans. We laughed, and contiued talking and a photo together.
I met this group of students at the main lobby of the Hotel Radisson Blu in Berlin (July 2016). They became interested in me when I told them I am a professor from the United States.

Two student at the Potsdamerplatz in Berlin. I met them the Korean Unification Hall near the remnants of the Berlin Wall. Germany and Korea were divided into two by big powers at the end of World War II in 1945. Germany became united 1990, but Korea still remains divided. Koreans come here to pray for the unification of their country. I prayed there in this form.

6. German teacher in Verona. I met this gentle lady from Germany in Juliet's House in Verona. She was sitting on Juliet's chair, I was on Romeo's seat. She came with her students, I also had a photo with them.

Intermission between the first and second acts of Carl Maria von Weber's "Der Freischuts" held outside Semper opera House in Dresden. It is customary to drink champaign during the opera intermissions (2010).
1. Soprano singer for the Dresden Opera. I met her on a street near her the Opera House in Dresden (2018). She said said she likes to sing as Michaela in the Carmen. I then asked her whether she is a meso-soprano. She then said Carmen is a meso, but Michaela is a Soprano. It was a pleasure to talk about music, even though it was brief.

8. Two more students at the metro station at the Kalrzlaz in Munich (2016). They told me how to go to their university. They are healthy, strong, and 60 years younger than I am.

Oktoberfest of 2011 in Munich. Two gentlemen in this photo are the veterans of the Normandy battle in 1944. Germany lost the war, but they are very proud of having been brave German soldiers. Great!

Lady from Nuremberg in Hamburg (October 2002). She was dining at the table next to mine, and we came closer for this photo. A good dinner is not complete unless accompanied by an intelligent lady who can talk back. This is particularly so at a classy restaurant such as the Friesenkeller in Hamburg.

1. Art Palace in Dresden (June 2004). The art objects with life are much more precious than those paintings inside the buildings. In order to complete the permutation of one photographer and and two art items, we need two more photos: Photo 2 and Photo 3.

Coffee Shop in Milan. I met this German lady in a coffee shop in Milan (Italy, 2003). She is representing a German pharmaceutical company, and here is
1. Florence. German lady who owns and manages a hotel called "La Giaconda" located in the central part of Florence. She works with her daughter. They both speak fluent English. This family-run hotel is one of the popular spots for those who come to Florence to see the city. I stayed in this hotel during the Thnaksgiving vacation of 2002 (November).
2. German Horse Trader in Guadalajara (Mexico, 1995). She raised her horses in Germany.
This Hilton lady came from Germany, and is now a hostess at the Hilton Copenhagen Airport (June 2002). Earlier, she worked at the Hilton hotel in Arlington near Washington, DC (U.S.A). Since I live in the Washington area, we had many things to talk about. Indeed, Hilton knows how to run the hotel business.
1. Paris Hilton at the Charles de Gaulle Airport. This delightful lady came also from Germany, and was very kind to me when I was staying in the hotel (May 2005). Hilton seems to be consistent with German ladies.
2. German Lady from Hamburg. I met this lady at the Hong Kong airport (August 2011). I was going to Xian, and she was on route to Okinawa to meet her fiance. She was very intelligent, I enjoyed talking with her.
3. German vacationers in Gdansk (Poland 2009). They were with Japanese cameras. I asked them why they are not using Leica cameras made in Germany. They said the Leica does not mean to them as much as it does to old people. Yes, I am an old man. Click here for a story.

5. Two German professors at the Univ. of Pierre and Marie Curie in Paris (2017).
6. German lady in Hungary. She is in charge of the breakfat progam at the Hotel Sofitel in Budapest (2013). Germans in general have organizational skills, and thus german ladies are in charge of things in many of the first-class hotels throught the world.
Lufthansa. This German lady was exceptionally kind to me at Washington's Dulles International Airport (May 2002). The flight was overbooked, and I offered my cooperation, and she offered the maximum benifit available to me. Great!
