- To what do you attribute your success? Dr. Kim attributes his success to strong high school
background in Korea before coming to the United States.
- Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?
Dr. Kim became involved in his profession after he earned his PhD degree from Princeton University in 1961 and began writing research papers. He then went to the University of Maryland through an invitation by the chairman of the physics department, john S. Toll. Earlier, during his undergraduate years (1954-58), he decided to study physics because he wanted to meet Albert Einstein. - What do you consider to be the highlight of your career?
Dr. Kim says "One hundred years ago, Niels Bohr worried about the hydrogen atom, while Albert Einstein was interested in how things appear to moving observers. They met occasionally to discuss physics, but there are no written records to indicate they ever discussed moving hydrogen atoms. Dr. Kim likes to be recognized as the person who provided the resolution of this Bohr-Einstein issue of the moving hydrogen atom or moving bound state in quantum mechanics." - Avocations: Travelling; Meeting interesting people.

- Thought on Life: "The United States rewards those who work hard. I worked hard, and I have been
rewarded. The United States has been very nice to me."
